What is a peer?

Recovery Peers are people like you who have lived experience and have been successful in recovery from substance use and/or mental health challenges.

Peers use their own experience to help others in similar situations.

You understand the unique pressures and stresses of the construction industry. You will be able to help your union brothers and sisters find and sustain recovery.

What is the commitment?

Trade recovery peers go through training and work together with Building Futures’ recovery program to support their fellow union members.

Will I be compensated for my time?

Yes! Participants are compensated for time in training and, if you choose to be a recovery peer moving forward, for your time as a peer.

Participants will also get a chance to work in community with others in recovery — helping to further their own recovery and create a recovery-friendly environment in building and construction.
